saturday evening spent in. watching too many hair tutorials.

day 5: a song to match your mood

heard this song today driving home from yoga. had the album on repeat all day. i like it. a lot.

day 4: your parents

i was lucky to be raised by my precious great grandmother. she was every bit of parent i needed. i can only hope to give my kids an ounce of the love, trust, and respect she gave me.

she was not particularly strict. i never was grounded. and that's not to say i never messed up... i did. but many bad choices were averted because i could not bear to disappoint her. far worse to disappoint than to spend the weekend locked away in my room.

thank you bunbun.

no, this is not my great grandmother. but, it could be.

day 3: your first love

my first love.
pretty standard. met in high school. went to dances. got caught kissing in the driveway. the usual.

perhaps not so usual.
survived one enlistment of united states marine. married at 18. believed we would be together forever. dreams changed. did not survive one enlistment of united states army. divorced at 21.

i have no harsh words or hatred toward him. i try only to remember the happiness we created. sometimes it is easier than others.

i regret none of it.

from him i learned to drive a stick shift, to love tattoos, and that much better things are coming.

day 2: meaning behind your blog name

chase simplicity.

moving through our day to day life we chase a lot of things. money, status, happiness, and in my case 5 year olds. constantly moving and improving i wanted to remind myself to strive for simple. my life doesn't have to be complicated or showy. i am happiest and most myself when i am chasing simplicity.

feel it

"I've learned something over the past couple of weeks - that it's okay to let music heal you. That when you listen to the words of something that make you feel, you ought to just feel it and suffer through it... because it makes you stronger on the other side." - Miranda Lambert
